Review of the school’s new safety procedures

black and yellow lamp post

At the beginning of the current school year, several procedures were implemented with the aim of reinforcing security and the organization of access to the school. After this period of adaptation, and taking into account some situations that we have been identifying, we consider it important to remember and clarify some fundamental rules for the proper functioning of the school and for the safety of all students.

1. Compliance with the rules for access to school

We have also realized that certain parents continue to enter the school to collect their children, although it has already been communicated that this possibility is limited to parents and guardians of students up to the 1st Grade/Year 1, under the terms previously disclosed.

These situations have been identified and are being corrected by the employees responsible for access control.

We would like to reinforce that compliance with these rules is a matter of:

  • Security;
  • Respect for school guidelines;
  • Justice and equity towards all Parents who comply with the defined procedures on a daily basis.

We therefore count on everyone’s collaboration so that the rules are applied uniformly and consistently.

2. Access and circulation of vehicles

We remind you that the school gate remains closed between 9h30 and the departure of the buses in the afternoon.

Exceptional entries of students before the usual time must be communicated, by email, to the respective Homeroom or Head Teacher, who will send this information to the concierge.

Exceptional situations will be considered, among others:

  • Students who have free afternoons;
  • Birthday parties;
  • Sick students;
  • Parents of Nursery students.

3. Circulation restrictions between 15h30 and 16h30

For security reasons, no vehicle will be allowed to enter the school between 15h30 and 16h30. Access will only be authorized after the school buses leave.

Even in cases where there is authorization to pick up a student earlier, the Guardian must enter on foot, leaving the vehicle outside the school grounds.

This measure is essential to:

  • Ensure the safety of students who take the bus;
  • Reduce the circulation of vehicles in a period of high student movement;
  • Allow the correct organization and supervision of school spaces.

In addition, only after 16h30 are all students distributed throughout their respective playgrounds, which allows for safer and more effective management of access. These measures are based exclusively on safety and protection criteria for our students.

4. Compulsory use of the school card

We have verified that a significant number of students still do not bring their school card daily.

We remind you that the card:

  • Is mandatory;
  • It is the student’s identification;
  • Allows access to turnstiles;
  • It will, as of next week, also be used for the meal control and lunch management.

When a student does not bring the card, entry and exit will have to be carried out manually by the employee who is next to the turnstiles, which causes operational constraints and delays.

Thus, if there is a recurring situation of forgetting the card, a duplicate will be issued on the third occurrence, the cost of which will be debited from the monthly fee.

5. Departure of students

Regarding students in the 2nd and 3rd Cycle and Secondary Education, we continue to work on strengthening the surveillance and supervision of outdoor spaces.

We request, however, the collaboration of families in order to define in advance with their children a time and a meeting place near the exit area. This simple measure will speed up the students’ departure times and avoid long waiting times.

The safety of our students will always remain an absolute priority. We appreciate everyone’s understanding and collaboration in complying with these guidelines, which are essential to ensure a safe, organized and peaceful school environment for the entire educational community.

Kind Regards

.
