Anti-Bullying Week: EITV Promotes Awareness and Empathy Activities
Between the 12th and 15th of November, EITV will host a very special event: Anti-Bullying Week . This project is aimed at all teaching cycles and aims to promote awareness of the impact of bullying, encouraging empathy and respect among students.
Throughout the week, students of all ages will participate in a series of educational and interactive activities designed to encourage dialogue and reflection on the topic. The event will not only address bullying in its various forms, but will also explore cyberbullying, a particularly relevant issue in the current context.
Projects for the Entire School Community
Two initiatives will be available to the entire school from Tuesday, November 12th:
- World of Empathy : A large poster will be placed in the entrance hall where students from all classes can stick “hands” decorated with messages of support, empathy and solidarity. Each student will be encouraged to express, through words or drawings, what empathy means to them. With the help of teachers and educators, this activity will also include children from the Nursery and Preschool, showing that respect for others can be taught from an early age.
- Be the ‘I’ in KIND : Near the entrance, students and teachers will be able to take photos next to a banner with the word “KIND”, promoting the idea that each person should be the “I” in the word “KIND”, reinforcing the power of the individual in building a friendly environment.
Activities by Teaching Cycle
Each teaching cycle will also have personalized activities, appropriate to the age group and context of the students. See what has been prepared for each group:
- Nursery and Pre-School : Children will participate in a special session with writer Celina Lopes, who will tell the story Maria (Im)perfeita , addressing themes such as acceptance, fear of rejection and overcoming.
- Year 1 to Year 4: In addition to the session with Celina Lopes, students will attend a Safe School lecture on bullying and, together with their teachers, will develop bookmarks to take home with messages of support and encouragement. Year 4 will also participate in the “Stop Bullying” game, where they will discuss ways to react to bullying situations.
- Year 5 to Year 6: For older students, the “Stop Bullying” game will be played in class, encouraging students to reflect deeply on how they feel and how they might react to bullying. They will also create their own bookmarks as a memento of the week.
- Year 7 to Year 9: Students from the Lower Secondary will attend a Safe School lecture on cyberbullying, one of the most current forms of aggression among young people. There will also be a screening of the film “Sorry! – A story about Bullying” , followed by classroom discussions. Students will also participate in the creation of posters with the theme “Say No to Bullying”, which will be displayed throughout the school.
- Upper Secondary Education : Secondary school students will have a specific talk about cyberbullying, promoted by Safe School , reinforcing the importance of responsible and respectful behavior on social media and in the virtual environment.
Objective of Anti-Bullying Week
Anti-Bullying Week is a valuable opportunity for everyone involved. By reflecting on how bullying and cyberbullying affect our lives and the lives of others, we aim to build a safer, more supportive and welcoming environment at school. This week is, above all, an invitation for students to practice empathy and be agents of positive change. We would like to thank all the teachers and other collaborators who joined this project and who, with their dedication, make this important action possible.
We are all invited to be part of this solidarity chain. May this week be a milestone in building a more united and conscious school!
